Open-access Life Condition of Children Infected with HIV/AIDs, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico

<span name="style_bold">Objective: </span>Identify the life conditions of children living withHIV/AIDin San Luis Potosí, <span name="style_bold">Methods: </span>We worked with a sample of 12 HIV/AIDs+children from one to 14 years old receiving attention in a public hospital. We conducted in-depth interviews at the hospital and homes and carried out some school visits. <span name="style_bold">Results: </span>The majority of families suffer financial stressors and one or both parents are dead; the children don´t know their diagnosis, have familiar problems and the majority shows an unsatisfactory therapeutic adherence, so their lives are endangered. Parents and tutors don´t know how to reveal the diagnosis and they are stressed by the course of the illness. They are especially worried about confidentiality. <span name="style_bold">Discussion: </span>The families facing the diagnosis of HIV / AIDS require different supports in the economic, psychological, medical and school areas.The families facing the diagnosis of HIV / AIDS require different supports in the economic, psychological, medical and school areas.
