Abstract
This paper analyzes the genesis and foundation of the Sevillian masonic magazine El Taller, which became the most important one in Spain during the last decades of the 19th century. It is divided into three parts: 1) the precedents that include brief notions on the definition of the Masonic press with its characters and objectives; 2) the origin of this magazine in the context of the Spanish rebellion against the articles of the new constitution of the Grande Oriente Lusitano Unido of 1878; and 3) the conclusions followed by the newspaper sources and a bibliography.
