A study of 40 patients with chronic renal failure, is presented. All were attendedat in the Nephrology Service and Hemodialysis Unit of Hospital San Juan de Dios, San José, Costa Rica, between january and june 1997. Nine of the cases did not receive dialysis therapy support, seven hemodialysis treatment and twenty-four patients were post kidney transplant. Incidence and severity of bone disease, repercussion on parathyroid glands and kidney disease secondary to hyperparathyroidism are analyzed.
