In Costa Rica, we have been omitted before acts of incest. For example, today it is still a taboo issue that keeps us in silence and that is part of the reason why this crime is still without punishment. When we investigate this topic, we find a hard reality: we do not have statistics; which is why we have to use the experiences of other people and our experience in the judicial bureau. Incest is a crime and a definite abuse in a relationship of power. In this manner, we are going to say that the perpetrator could be the father, stepfather, mother, grandpa, uncle, brothers, cousins, nephews, etc. In this essay we give the guidelines to extend this terminology and extend it to the existing familiar line of direct relatives.
