Abstract
In this paper, we first comment on the main characteristics of the lexicographic works about Costa Rican indigenous languages hitherto published and problematize the accessibility of the traditional bilingual alphabetical format for the members of the communities who speak such languages. Afterward we discuss the specificity of the lexicography of endangered languages, and, finally, we systematize our experience in the creation of thematic pictorial dictionaries1.
