Abstract

It is currently included in the Official List of Medicines and Regulations of the Costa Rican Social Security (LOM). However, thalidomide´s resurgence and its analogues, reproductive behavior changes, assisted reproduction technology, biomedical research and medical judicialization, indicates that a review of the current indications and safety measures are necessary to prevent the most serious adverse effect: teratogenesis.
