Abstract.
This article is the result of research conducted at the Faculty of Business Administration (FADE) of at the Polytechnic Superior School of Chimborazo (ESPOCH), at the city of Riobamba, regarding the competencies of the faculty. The skills of people present aspects that cannot be measured with deterministic tools used in most cases. This situation creates a problem, because it makes not possible to know the intangible side of competencies that characterize an employee and his/her possible shortcomings. This issue is critical in the case of teachers in any type of education; therefore, the aim of this paper is to present a methodology to measure the skills of teachers in the Business Administration Faculty (FADE) and make strategies more effective for academic improvement. This work was done in 2014 as part of the final undergraduate project of six students and led by the authors of this article. The result was the determination of the competence degree of 161 teachers and <the competence degrees of the schools and the department, leaving the expeditious path for the develop of continuous improvement strategies. The results demonstrated the need of changing deterministic methods for evaluating teachers, because they do not reflect the reality of academic practice in the FADE.
