Abstract
Research on the learning of young people and adults about high school in Youth and Adult Education (YAE) is recent in Brazilian scientific literature. When it comes to this learning in the discipline of Art, the studies are very incipient. This implies problematizing the pedagogical aspects developed in this area with young and adults students. We aimed to investigate in this article the role of YAE in the learning in arts of students who attended high school in this modality in a school located in Tocantinópolis, state of Tocantins. We conducted research with a qualitative approach, of an exploratory nature and have the case study as a methodological strategy. As instruments for data collection, we used semi-structured questionnaires that were applied to YAE students (participants in this study) from that school in the year 2019, in addition to written records of observed art classes with these students, analyzed through the interpretative perspective. The data revealed that the main difficultie that students encounter at YAE relate to reconciling studies with work. In the questionnaires applied to the students, they recurrently address the difficulties related to learning pace, monitoring of some content developed in the discipline of Art and logical- scientific reasoning skills.
