The following essay explores the way in which the topic of national symbols has been taken from the educational ambit. To achieve this, it journeys from the implementation of the subject of Civics towards the end of the 19th Century until the present, while analyzing the way in which these patriotic symbols have been used to represent and construct an imaginary of identity when naturalizing ideological speeches framed in the patriotic representations.
